American artist Adrian Romero (b.1972) was born and raised in Central New Mexico. Adrian's passion of art started at an early age, when a best friend he grew up with drew every chance they got. He pursued his Asso. in Fine Art at Central New Mexico Community College, and while doing so he attended several drawing and painting workshops throughout the western United States.
Biography
Adrian spent a lot of his time growing up at his Grandparents ranch which is located within a Spanish land grant. In the 1700's and 1800's Spanish land grants were issued to encourage settlement, to reward patrons of the Spanish settlers, government and military officers. Spanish authorities used the system in Florida, Texas, Arizona and California, but the oldest land grants are in New Mexico. Adrian's family roots date all the way back to 1724 when the King of Spain issued that particular land grant to the settlers.
Many prominent and well respected artists originated from Spain. Among these influential artists, Adrian admires the early works of Picasso and Velasquez.
At his Grandparents ranch, Adrian learned both hunting and trapping skills from his late grandfather. He spent many hours exploring and observing wildlife. This is where his love of nature and the outdoors came to be.
Since he was a child, Adrian always enjoyed drawing up until high school. It wasn't until after his kids were born that he pursued a career in fine art. While attending art workshops, Adrian would bring the family and make a family vacation out of it. Currently Adrian attends state and national trapping conventions, and will also attend art shows in the near future.
